Ubuntu 21.10 (Impish Indri) Desktop Installation Guide.

Ubuntu 21.10 was released on October 14, 2021 with codename “Impish Indri“. In this post, we are going to show you installation steps using Live ISO image. Boot from CD/DVD or USB Stick

As soon as you reboot your system, you will get the installer screen as below. Select “Ubuntu” to get started.

Select your language of your choice. Before installation of Ubuntu you can give a try clicking on “Try Ubuntu” then may proceed with the installation later. Here, we are clicking on “Install Ubuntu” for Ubuntu Installation.

Select “Normal installation“, then select “Install third-party software“. This will install additional device drivers which may help later on.

Installation type

Here, choose partition options “Erase disk and install Ubuntu” for default partitions. Clicking on “Advanced features” to enable disk encryption, LVM or ZFS partitions of your choices. Click on “Something else” for customize partitions.

As we can see that device “/dev/sda” detected. Click “New Partition Table“.

Recommended partitions ‘/boot‘, ‘/‘,’swap‘, ‘EFI should be 100MB – 250MB‘ and ‘Reserved BIOS Boot Area should be 1MB‘.

 

Write the changes to disks. 

Click on “Continue” to accept changes.

 

Select your timezone and continue.

Insert Name, Computer Name, User Name & Password.

Installation started

Installation is now started…Sit back and Relax for sometime, you will be prompted to reboot once installation is done. Click on “Restart Now“. Eject or remove CD/VD or ISO image. 

 

 

Once rebooted, login with User Name and Password created in pervious steps. Follow the screen which is self explanatory.
